Still one of my favorite spicy Chinese restaurants in OC/LA. Their food is finely prepared with layers of spice and umami flavors. They have added a lot of new dishes over the years. I'm so happy they got yet another Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition 2023. Our favorite dishes are: Toothpick Lamb Stir Fried Chilli Chicken Dry Pot Shrimp Dry Pot Beef (New) Boiled Fish fillet in Chilli sauce Mao Cai Twice Cooked Pork Kid Friendly Dishes that my kid loves: Home Styled Fried Rice Qiao Jiao Beef Soup of Lehan (without the chilli) Stir fried Beef with Scallions Yummy Comfort Food: "Street Food" Potato Strips Impressive Cold Noodles MaPo Tofu (for vegetarians, you can ask them to cook it without meat) Service is also friendly and thoughtful. They often give us napkins, prompt with our requests, and chat with us in a very friendly way. They are having a OC Restaurant Week Special right now, which allows a tasting of several different dishes family style, which we really enjoyed! We get to try some new dishes that we don't usually order and find them very good too. Overall, highly recommend!
This restaurant is not for the faint of heart. My brother and I love mala flavors, and I feel like nowhere does it as intensely as Sichuan Impression. We got the boiled fish with rattan peppers, and although it doesn't look spicy, the spice is intense. It definitely hits the spot whenever I'm craving something different. The fish balances out the spice in the soup, and the broth itself is really flavorful so it's easy to get addicted. I would recommend that customers order a cup of rice because I think that that's all this meal was missing!
Having been to this place like twice. First time, everything was perfect, food was great, servers were ok and price was reasonable. The second time 8 of us had lunch at this place, the server told us in advance that they charge 20% of the tips while there are more than a party of 6. We were fine with this, however there was no service at all, i have to go to the counter myself to ask the waiter to fill some water for us, and on their counter, there were ready poured water in the disposable cup, and the server suggested that i can take one myself. Normally you get good tips for your good services. What's the point of charging us 20% tips while there was low/no service at all. It was just like a robbery. I love the food there, i hope they can improve the service if they still want to charge customers a good 20% tips.
Delicious! I'm always excited to come here because all the dishes are so flavorful. The fried squid dry pot said it would come with lotus root (under item description) but I didn't see any in our dish. Lotus root would've added a nice crunch. If you come with a larger party, I would recommend the boiled fish. Even as a group of 4, we had lots of leftover because we wanted to try other dishes.
I loved: $24 Boiled White fish I really liked: $15 Fried String Beans + $23 Lamb skewers + $10 Impressive Bean Jelly + $41 Braised whole Sea Bass + $23 Fried Squid Dry Pot + Incredible #goodeats but so spicy! Clearly I liked the less spicy stuff but even so, you can tell everything here uses high quality ingredients. I'd say it's 90% as good as in China itself which is honestly impressive. Service is expected for an Asian resturant. You absolutely have to flag a waiter down. You will feel ignored if you don't do so. Same for the noise level. It's a bunch of Asian people loudly talking. We got there at 11:30 and there was plenty of seating but as soon as 12:15 rolled around, there was a wait list.
Pretty authentic sichuan food! They have plenty of options to choose, from dry pots to soups to stir fried food items! If you can't eat spicy food it is okay too, there are plenty of entrees that are not very spicy or spicy at all. The portions are also very generous! * Mini Lamb Skewers 4.5/5- lamb meat was tender and seasoned well * Boiled beef in chili sauce 5/5- good spicy level and had both meat and veggies. pairs super well with rice and is something that i order every single time that I have visited this store. * Plenty of parking spaces and seating available. You can also check in on yelp ahead of time to avoid any wait time.
1. The bean jelly had a thick shape yet a soft texture! The rib meat fell off the bones so easily! The boiled fish broth was well-made and spicy! 2. The spot has cozy-casual vibes! 3. There are plenty of indoor seatings! 4. The staff were friendly and attentive! 5. Parking lot is huge! Note: You will place your order by scanning a QR from your phone! You have the option to pay on your phone, but they can still bring a machine for you to pay by card! I came here with several work colleagues and all I had to do was show up and eat. My colleague took care of ordering for the table and she made good selections. Some of the items were Tea Smoke Pork Ribs, Toothpick Mutton, Smoked Duck, Fried Green Beans and pureed pork. The food was good, the service was good enough and they had a table big enough to accommodate all of us. Four stars!
Sichuan Impression in Tustin sits unassumingly towards the corner of an old plaza in the Tustin/Red Hill area. What you wouldn't know passing by that this family restaurant was honored with a Michelin Bib Gourmand (the Alhambra location)! The interior is clean, spacious, and even festive in the new year - they had 2024 balloons up on the wall. The servers are friendly and service quick, but the ordering and payment process is done through your phone so bring your devices charged. The menu has a diverse array of offerings that bring the heat - ranging from ginger boiled frog to tea smoked duck and even rabbit. For those less adventurous with their proteins, they also offer delicious classics (both traditional and American-tailored). From my first visit, every dish sampled was fantastic: The Kung-Pao Chicken was cooked to tender perfection with a rich, savory sauce that had a strong kick that enhanced the chicken rather than overpower it. The Dry Fried String Beans were also phenomenal with little bits of salty, peppery beef incorporated. Finally, the Home-Style Fried Rice, which included capsaicin, beef, and fluffy eggs, rounded out the rich flavors nicely. You'll come for bold flavors, cooked with great balance (I am particularly excited for the cauldron of fish filet in golden broth), and you will leave full and satisfied but for the fact that you wish you could order more. Consider me Impressed!
